Empowered to Serve

My Mind is Set on Him

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth, not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:2)

Be renewed in the spirit of your mind. (Ephesians 4:23)

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.4For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)

Recall that success and prosperity are defined in scripture in spiritual terms. We get distracted from our God-given purpose when we measure our lives against worldly success and prosperity. In these verses Paul reminds us that we are to focus on spiritual matters, not the world. “I Have Set My Mind On Things Above”

We are to continuously seek a deeper knowledge of Christ. In other words, we are to put on the new self. As disciples we are to serve the Lord with all that is within us – that is, begin thinking in new and right ways as we absorb God’s Word.

The process of being renewed in the Spirit is spiritual warfare. It is a battle between the old nature and the new nature. Our struggle can only be fought through the power of the Spirit that is in us. Only then can strongholds be brought down. We are not talking about overcoming the world with self-discipline but with the power of God within us.

When the Lord tells us that we need to make a change in our lives, He is the one who will do it.

Who am I: I am being renewed daily.
