The Impact of the Internet on Society

The "age of information" is ushering in a tide of fear and carnal desire, corruption and conflict, disconnection and depression.

Promise Keepers is uniquely positioned to confront the threat of technology addiction, especially among men and boys. This challenge is visible in at least three areas of modern life: video games, pornography, and social media (including cell phones).

Video Games: CNN reported during the trial of Norway mass-killer Anders Breivik that his 16-hour-a-day habit of playing "Call of Duty," helped him prepare for his shooting spree.

These three battlegrounds have something in common with other addictions: they amount to what experts call "arousal addiction." Men's brains are actually being re-wired (conditioned) to crave endless stimulation, to the detriment of our bodies, souls and spirits!

We need to be committed to practicing spiritual, moral, ethical, and sexual purity.

We need to be committed to building strong marriages and families through love, protection and biblical values.
